He will guide you on a spring Saturday walk along the Kent seashore, tasting and learning about wild edible spring plants.

Seaweed Developer Workshop
Floral Cyanotype Workshop

Join Melanie King for a floral cyanotype workshop, inspired by the botanist Anna Atkins.
Also sometimes known as sun printing, the cyanotype process is one you can easily learn to do in a workshop. It offers a perfect introduction to alternative and traditional photographic processes.
You will learn how to coat, expose and wash a cyanotype.
Experimenting with several different compositions using discarded plants from/inspired by the garden.
The cyanotype is an environmentally friendly iron-based photographic process which is known for its strong blue colour.
Once dry, you will be able to take your creation home with you.

A ‘Throw-Down’ Taster

An opportunity to ‘throw’ some clay on the potter’s wheel …… guided by Mike Child.
Mike has been making ceramics in the Thanet area for over 40 years and brings his experience both as potter and teacher to the festival in his own studio space.
After a brief explanation and guided demonstration of using clay on the wheel, participants will be able to try this fascinating technique for themselves gaining personal insights into its allure.
The sessions are designed to focus on the experience, so there will be no ‘end product’ as such but participants are welcome to use photography to have mementos from the event.

Martin Turner, RIEDEL's UK Ambassador, guides you through a unique comparative tasting.
RIEDEL, the 300 year old family owned company known for the creation and development of varietal-specific stemware, were the first glass manufacturer to recognise that the taste of a beverage is affected by the shape of the vessel from which it is consumed.
Perceptions are altered, senses astounded as you experience the affect that each of the different glass shapes has on both your nose and on your palate.

Join the protected area warden and explore the wildlife of Pegwell Bay.
On the 2 hour walk you will find out about the fascinating seals that rest on these protected mudflats. Learning how to seal watch from the coast path without causing disturbance to these vulnerable animals.
Suitable for families; there will be activities to do on our journey and time to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet of this pristine coastline, plus lots of wildlife to see. Please wear sturdy shoes.
This walk is free to attend, but please consider making a donation so Kent Wildlife Trust can continue to protect these charismatic creatures at this beautiful site.

Monster Plant Puppet Workshop

James Frost, artist, theatre designer and educator is going to amaze you with some unusual Spring puppet plants!
Let your imagination run free and create magical and monstrous plant puppets out of paper, fabric and foam.

Spring Kimchi Session

Join Thom Eagle for a spring kimchi session using the best foraged and farmed produce Thanet has to offer.
One of the UK’s leading voices in cookery and fermentation, Thom is a writer, chef and educator, formerly of Darsham Nurseries in Suffolk and London’s Littleduck but currently cooking and teaching in Margate.
He will take you through the basics of fermentation in a hands-on way and show you to adapt recipes and techniques to make the most of local flavours.
Bring you own jars so you can take home your spring kimch creations!

Chocolate Pairing Workshop

Chef Jessica Leah will guide you through an afternoon of chocolate delights.
After a short introduction on how chocolate is made and is best appreciated, you will have the opportunity to sample Jess's chocolate pairings. Moving from white to dark, there will be 10 - 12 pairings to taste and surprise you. Some will be loved and some will be a little more unusual.......

Recordermania is a fun and noisy workshop in experimental recorder playing for children and adults, led by artist and recorder
player Rosie Carr.
Make your own pipe instruments from recycled materials and experiment with some advanced recorder playing techniques!
In this workshop the recorder players will create a sound piece to perform together.
Come, join the drone ensemble! No experience or skill necessary!

Introduction to Beavers
Ham Fen, Kent Wildlife Trust

Kent Wildlife Trust will take you on a family friendly short walk (approx.60-90 minutes) to the fen area of Ham Fen to see some of the evidence of beavers.
You will learn to spot beaver activity - see where they cut the trees to make their dams and learn how we can work with the beavers to restore our natural habitat.
There will be activities to do and wildlife to spot whilst you explore
Ham Fen.
Please wear wellingtons and prepare to get muddy!
Parking is limited so please carpool whever possible.
Donation of £5.00 per adult/child is advised so Kent Wildlife Trust
can continue to protect this unique site.

Hurdy Gurdy Workshop

Claire Dugue has been making hurdy-gurdies professionally, in Ramsgate, for the past 23 years.
The instrument, with its simpler ancestor dating to the 9th century,
is nowadays a sophisticated, intricate, mechanical musical instrument used in virtually any style of music from medieval repertoire to jazz, classical and rock.
Claire will be talking about the history and evolution of the instrument. She will show and explain the making process, what makes a good instrument and what influences its tone and playability.
The talk will include a tour of the workshop and will be followed by a Q&A.

The Sound Of A Billion Souls

A contemplative and immersive sound, meditation breath-work experience
Ramsgate's chalk and flint cliffs were created 60-100 million years ago by a billion souls of life that lived in the water that once covered this ancient landscape.
Join us in the caves of a unique Ramsgate residence, and immerse yourself in the ever present now, as the drum of life beats on. We'll take you on a sensorial journey underground to discover our connection with the coccoliths and the ammonites, and how their calcified creation resonates with now...
